Our Story.
Ascent Church is the fourth church plant out of Clear River Church in Lafayette, IN near Purdue University. In the summer of 2019, Zach Miller, our lead pastor, began to have a growing suspicion that God was asking him to hand over Clear River and plant a new church. After confirming this with other leaders at Clear River, God made it clear Blacksburg was to be the location of this new church. In the summer of 2020, a team of 33 adults and 16 kids picked up their lives and moved to the Blacksburg area and Ascent Church began public services on August 30, 2020.
Our mission is to be disciples, make disciples, and mature disciples. In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus makes it clear that we are to love the “Lord our God” with all our heart, soul, and mind, and that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. He would later command his followers to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Matt. 28:19). Based on these clear and simple teachings of Jesus we find what it means to be a disciple of His, and thus the mission of Ascent Church.
